What you pay, when you pay it, and what happens if plans change. Written to be read, not skimmed.
The short version
Booking requires a 20% deposit, with the balance due 30 days before departure. Cancel more than 30 days out and you get a full refund, minus any non-refundable train or flight tickets already issued. Cancel inside 30 days and the refund depends on what suppliers have already charged us.

Deposits and balances
A 20% deposit confirms the booking and lets us hold hotels and train seats.
The balance is due 30 days before departure.
Bookings made within 30 days must be paid in full at confirmation.
Cancellation and changes
- More than 30 days before departure: full refund, minus any train or flight tickets already issued.
- 30–15 days out: 50% of the land cost is retained.
- Within 15 days: the land cost is retained in full.
- Date changes are offered first, before any cancellation is processed.
Insurance and liability
Every booking carries agency liability insurance, as required by Chinese law.
We strongly recommend separate travel insurance that covers medical care and cancellation.
Trip interruption caused by us is refunded in full, including the unused portion.
